Some examples of bike designs by Mike.

Below are images of a Freeride and Downhill mountain bike that Mike designed, fabricated, and built. The Gold bike uses a 4 bar rear suspension linkage and the green bike a massive single pivot rear swingarm.

The bikes were manufactured using 6000 and 7000 series heat treated alloy. Mike did all the tube cutting, machining, milling, and jig building to construct the frames, and local Melbourne frame builder Paconi completed the welding using the jigs provided.

Both bikes performed extremely well and after testing were eventually sold to a private enthusiasts who rode and raced them in local events.

Whilst Mikes current interests are focused on road cycling, the bikes below were great fun to design and build and awesome to ride!

Mikes Top Tips

1. Clean + Lube your Chain regularly
2. Change cables every 12 months
3. Check Tyre pressure each ride
4. Grease bearings often in winter
5. Noise when pedaling is not necessarily from the bottom bracket and could be headset, stem, or seatpost
6. New bar tape on a a race bike can make it feel new!
7.Replace chain before excess stretch occurs and you will save on having to replace the rear cluster.
8.Recycle tubes by repairing with patch/s. Cheap and saves $$$$$ and the environment.
9.Carry a small rag or wet ones in your jersey pocket when riding. Very useful to wipe hands after fixing a puncture or a mechanical.
10.If interface between your shoe and your clip-in pedal creaks, try applying lube from a dry grease stick (available from auto shops) to the surfaces to fix it.
